Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming or "chai-yok," is an ancient practice that involves sitting over a pot of steaming herbal infusion. The warmth of the herbal steam to permeate the exterior of her vagina and up into her uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries (womb). The steam enters the womb, softens the tissues, relaxes the pelvic floor and increases blood flow.

WHEN TO STEAM..

The best time to plan your first time steam is just before your period or just after it has finished.

 

For preventative care – Once a month

 

For cysts, prolapse, pelvic pain, fibroids, endometriosis– 3 – 4 x a week

 

After a DNC or miscarriage – wait 3 weeks; make sure there is no infection prior to steaming and bleeding stops completely.

 

Post-delivery, wait 6-8 weeks, making sure you are not bleeding and there is no infection.

WHAT TO EXPECT…

You should expect changes in vaginal discharge, and a shift in your menstrual blood, duration of cycle and onset can shift as well. These are normal cleansing reactions and a good sign that your womb is cleansing.

The Don’ts of Yoni Steaming

Don’t steam during your menstrual cycle (might cause you to bleed more).

Don’t steam when you are ovulating (if you are trying to conceive).

Don’t steam while pregnant

Don’t steam if you have IUD in you (it might come out)

Don’t steam during a miscarriage, you can steam after.

Don’t stream with plastic bowls. When you steam with plastic bowels toxins from the plastic can leak into the water. Best to use a clay or stainless-steel pot.

The Do’s Yoni Steaming

Yoni steaming can be done 2-4 times a month.

Drink spring water while you steam or some red raspberry tea. Avoid alcohol because it affects your uterus.

Red raspberry leaves : -  strengthens the uterine wall, ease menstrual cramps, regulate the flow during menstruation

Roses: Uplifting and soothing, rose can support emotional well-being and enhance overall relaxation. Aides in relief for stress, vaginal infections and improves mood.
